Thankgiving!

Oh thanksgiving! the best part is that Gammie and Aunt Marilyn come to visit. We only get to see them once maybe twice a year and it is such a treat. They even took time to come see our new home. We were so excited and honored by that. My crock pot Mac-n-cheese bombed, but people still ate it!!! I also made some pumpkin pudding. Click here to see pics and the recipe. I had alot of fun hanging out in the kitchen with Aunt Marilyn with our matching aprons (unplanned) and hearing about what Thanksgiving on the farm where she grew up. Here are some pictures from our day. Our first Thanksgiving with Isaac (don't you love the candle in my face!)Isaac getting ready to feastWith Gammie & Aunt MarilynIt's always easy to be thankful for the good things: my salvation in Jesus, my amazing husband, my precious son, and our wonderful home that God gave to us. But how much do we share and are truly thankful for the hardships in our lives? The pain that keeps us in bondage? This year, I am thankful for that. Not with a cheerful, or joyful heart yet, but one day. I am so thankful for the deeper and truer way that the Lord has revealed Himself to me through earthly hardships, helping me to discover in a deep deep way who I am in Him, why He loves me when I so often feel so unlovable, but most of all, my WORTH in Him. This is my worth: that Jesus poured out His blood for me. God is revealing this to me, not in the cliche' way we so often tend to, but in the way that keeps me going day to day. In the way that causes me to run to Him for safety and shelter. So, for all this, I am thankful. Thank you Lord for saving me and that one day I will be with you in Heaven, worshiping only You!

"Holy Holy Holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come.
With all creation I sing, Praise to the King of Kings!
You are my everything, and I will Adore you"

Visitors

This first picture is from a while ago. Sorry I didn't post it sooner. My mom came to visit and this is my whole family sending her off at the airport. Suzie's kids are so funny.
This picture is just from a couple of weeks ago. Matt, Andrea and Benjamin Sutton came to visit and see our new house while they were in NC. It was fun comparing parenting stories and tips and just hanging out!

Raleigh Christmas Parade

Hopefully, this will become a family tradition for us! We had a great time at the parade and weren't nearly as cold (or pregnant) as we were last year. We got there alittle late and missed Luke's marching band, Broughton, but we did get to see my band, Cary!!! GO IMPS! Ridiculous mascot, I know! Here's my beautiful family! I love Isaac's face!Uncle D "carried the weight" for a whileThe three of them. Isaac looked in amazement the whole time!
Poor The Boy. Totally wiped out after our big day!

Luke's birthday!

This post is way old. We had Luke's 30th birthday party the same day as Holidays fit for the King so needless to say, it was a very busy but very exciting day for these Mehaffies!

Luke's favorite food in the whole world is the potato, in all forms. So I had the idea to have a mashed potato bar for him. This would include a huge pot of mashed potatoes and different sides such as, cheese, bacon bits, sour cream, chili, corn, broccoli and more cheese :) Here I am with about 15lbs worth of mashed potatoes!
And Luke loving every bit of itGuess who loves mashed potatoes just like his daddy! We all had a really great time just chilling and talking. Cathy Watkins brought Luke's favorite twice baked potatoes for the party! All the Watkins family came, and the Corsons. Alinna came to represent for the Mehaffie family and some other friends stopped by. I also made him a 4 (yes FOUR!) layer pumpkin chocolate chip cake with cream cheese icing. I loved it and so did everyone else!

Happy Birthday Luke! I love you!

Holidays Fit For the King 2009

It was awesome this year. The speaker concentrated on Simple Christmas. She used the verse Proverbs 17:1 that says, "Better is a dry crust with peace, than a house full of feasting with strife". What a great verse to remember not only for the holidays but for everyday living. God brought this verse to my heart months ago and it's what Luke and I strive for daily in our home and family.

This year I decorated a Christmas Tree themed table. I used this tutorial to make the little trees and felt to make the tree utensil holders. The only thing I added to the little trees were cotton balls in between to give them height. I had alot of fun making it and preparing it!

Here's a slide show of all the other tables that were decorated! They were beautiful!

Happy Halloween

This post is very late. I really need to get my act together. But here are some pictures from Isaac's first Halloween! We had a great time with my mom and my sister's kids. Here's a picture of my sweet little family. I am so blessed!
Here we all are making our Trick or Treat bags before headed out to Providence's Fall Festival!
We also had fun carving a pumpkin. I had major texture issues though and just couldn't bring myself to stick my hand and help take the guts out.
Zhayla helped design the jack-o-lantern face. It was her idea to have one triangle and one square eye. I thought is was a great idea!
Here are all the kiddos ready to go!
After church, we went to Luke's family's neighborhood to go trick-or-treating. What a great neighborhood to do it in. It was like a scene from an old family movie. And of course, the kids went away with about 10 lbs. of candy! Oh boy!

A Visit

** Scroll down to see what else the Mehaffies have been up to!***

Rob and Sara came to visit yesterday. We hadn't seen them in a while and they wanted to come see our new house! It was so great catching up with them. They were the first out of town guests that we have had. Luke grilled out some burgers for lunch and then they treated us to some Cold Stone Ice Cream later. Yum! Thanks for visiting Rob and Sara!

A Whole Lotta Happy!

That's what we had at this year's NC state fair!!! And that was the theme. LOVE IT! It's one of those things that marks the start of our favorite time of year. The weather gets cool, the leaves start to change, and the fair; we go every year! So much fun. We went with Daniel and Alinna this year. It was my first time going during the day. The last time we went was two years ago and there were two significant little people who weren't even in our thoughts then. Life changes so quickly. Here are just a few pics from our trip:

Go ECU! Woo! I like to sport my alma mater when we go to the fair. Even Isaac has an ECU shirt on! Except, Luke still won't admit in public that he went there. He doesn't even own an ECU shirt. Worst of all, he's wearing a carolina blue shirt ! Some Pirate pride he has :)Isaac tried some roasted corn. MMmmm.....And a corn dog. Double mmmm. Don't worry, the ONE bite he had of each were small.

Next year, Isaac will appreciate the animals and stuff alot more than this year. We love the fair!!

Mountain Trip

There's just too much to post so instead, I'm going to put one picture per event that has happened in the recent weeks. Here's a picture of our mountain trip. Drew and Jamie Watkins, and Patrick and Anna Watkins were also there.

Oh how I wish I could show you all the pictures. We took over 500 pictures while we were there. The weather was cold, but that's how we LOVE it. The fall foliage was just breathtaking. Mt. Jefferson even had snow at the top of it and when we hiked it the next day, we got to throw mini snowballs at each other. The house we stayed in was AMAZING! It had a beautiful mountain view and a rushing river behind it. We had a really great time. Thanks to Anna's aunt who let us stay in her house. Hope we can do it again!

Justice League FOREVER!!!

Our favorite super hero's/ comics are DC Comics, of course. Some of you know the college roots that this takes in our lives. Well, of course we're not going to leave Isaac out of that. So, though we haven't picked a character for him yet, I did find this super awesome t-shirt for him!I like how daddy's favorite character, The Flash, is right in front. Mine, Wonder Woman is right behind Batman! LOVE IT!

We took a mountain trip this past weekend with our supper club. If i can get my act together, maybe I'll post some pics soon.
